Puthenkavu Bhagavathy
Elavoor is a village blessed with the beautiful nature and its greenery. The tiny village is famous for the temple of its ever gracious goddess, Sri Puthenkavil Bhagavathy. Sri Puthenkavu Temple is situated in the centre of Elavoor. It is 16 KM s away from Aluva and 8KMs away from Angamaly.
The presiding diety of this temple is Bhadrakali. The mother Goddess Kavilamma as is often called, is Merciful and beneficent. Not only the people in and around of this village only, but devotees from far away visit the temple to have a darshan of kavilamma. She accepts all the pleas and gifts them with boons.
ELAVOOR THOOKAM
In the yester years, the temple was famous for its ‘Althookkam’, it was conducted in the hottest season of Medam, exactly on ‘Pathamudayam’ day.
A devotee who submits himself before the almighty as a person to be hanged on the holy scaffold, which would be carried around temple for three times. Then he would be released from the iron hooks which had been pierced on his back.
